Our Mission
The St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Company is dedicated in providing public safety services to the citizens of Niagara County that result in improved quality of life and peace of mind. As a team, we will strive to minimize losses and suffering through emergency service delivery, public education and community service activities. We will provide our service and treat those we serve and each other in a manner that is professional, fair and honest. We will strive to support and participate in our community and serve with integrity. We will strive to support individual development, personal satisfaction, pride of all our members, and endeavor to uphold the unique camaraderie and trust that is the fire service.
St. Johnsburg Fire Company Chronological History
- August 2nd, 1926 First formal meeting to organize a fire company in the Town of Wheatfield, held at Krull's Inn.
- August 9th, 1926 Group of citizens decided to organize the St. Johnsburg Fire Company.
- August 16th, 1926 Fifteen charter members elected officers & contributions were taken to start a treasury.
- 1927 Fire company decided to incorporate under the laws of the State of New York. Members voted to purchase a new REO fire truck for $3,875.00. Members voted to buy a 16 X 20 ft lot at Ward & Niagara Falls Boulevard. New truck delivered in June. Charter of incorporation dated August 13, 1927 was received. Fire drills (practice) started in August. New hall opened in
December.
- 1929 Members voted to run the first fire company field day on Saturday July 13, 1929
- 1930 Drum Corps was organized in October. member of Niagara County Firemens Association.
- 1937 Members voted to start running Bingo games.
- 1939 Members voted to purchase four acre lot at Krueger & Ward Roads.
- 1940 Purchased new Diamond T fire truck.
- 1950 Purchased new International 1200 gal. tanker
- 1951 Held 25th anniversary party.
- 1953 Organized ladies auxiliary.
- 1955 Sgt-at-Arms position formed.
- 1959 Purchased new Ford emergency truck
- 1963 Purchased new Sanford pumper
- 1966 Motion passed to build a new hall on Krueger & Ward rd property
- 1969 New fire hall completed.
- 1971 Old fire hall sold
- 1973 Purchased new Chevrolet van for EMS
- 1976 Purchased new Sanford pumper.
- 1978 Purchased new Salisbury mini-pumper.
- 1983 Banquet hall remodeled.
- 1986 Purchased new Sanford hea1986 Purchased new Sanford heavy rescue
- 1990 Air conditioning installed in hall
- 1993 Fire company hosted Western New York Volunteer Firemans Association convention for first time. Robert Walker voted President of Association.
- 1994 Town of Wheatfield Benevolent Assoc. formed
- 1995 Purchased new RD Murray pumper li>1996 First defibrillator put into service.
- 1999 Mini-pumper refurbished.
- 2002 New hall built behind existing hall
- 2006 Purchased Smeal aerial truck (105 ft)
